Atticus Rabatin, born and raised in the Midwest, graduated from the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture in 2017. Prior to returning to school in 2013, Rabatin spent his twenties focused on cooking in and managing restaurants. It is these years of tactile exploration via cuisine that allowed him to find his way within the sculpture world.
His work explores the relationship between our memories and their tendency to be reshaped by present and future experiences and how each memory is altered by that relationship. Rabatin utilizes various techniques, ranging from more traditional fabrication skills like welding and woodworking to digital design and fabrication, and audio/video editing and production, in an effort to highlight how surfaces interact with one another and serve as symbols for memory creation and retrieval.
Rabatin has shown work in UWM's Crossing Over group show in the Union Gallery. He has also been featured in the Best of Sculpture portion of UWMs Kenilworth Open Studios. Rabatin wishes to further his exploration of memory and our relationships to it and one another. In 2018, he intends to continue his research by pursuing a Master in Fine Arts degree.
